The region grows the raw material and ships it 400 kilometres to be processed. Transport and waiting account for 19 % of the price paid to the grower, and part of the harvest does not arrive in a fit state to be processed.
The plant handles 40 tonnes a day over a 90-day season. The 180 hectares are already under contract with eleven farms, at a guaranteed price and with a delivery calendar per plot — that is the part missing from both previous attempts in the wilaya.
The requirement covers the processing line and the boiler. The land is owned and the electrical connection has been granted.
