Nearshore from Algiers: what European clients actually ask for

Published on August 15, 2026

Day rate came fourth in the selection criteria observed across eleven procurements. What comes before it often surprises suppliers.

Eleven European procurements open to Algerian suppliers in 2025 make it possible to reconstruct the real order of the criteria, the one that eliminates, as against the one written in the specification.

The first disqualifying criterion is being able to supply a contactable reference working in the same language as the project. Five suppliers out of eleven were dropped at that point, before any technical discussion.

The second is the contract type, fixed price or time and materials, with an intellectual property clause drafted under a law the client recognises. It is a legal point and it is treated as a trust point.

The third is team continuity. A European client will pay a higher rate against a named commitment on people, because the cost of turnover falls on them.

Day rate comes next, and it counts mainly as a consistency signal. A very low price triggers a review of the cost structure, not an order.
