Electronic invoicing: the timetable software vendors have to meet
Published on April 24, 2026
The compliance deadlines and what they mean for accounting software already deployed at customer sites.
A vendor with a hundred customers deployed is not migrating a hundred customers. It is migrating a hundred versions, because no two customers are on the same level.
The first consequence is that a compliance project starts with an inventory of the versions in production, and that inventory is almost always wrong on the first pass.
The second is the exchange format. Producing a compliant invoice is the easy part. Receiving one, checking it and knowing what to do with an invoice the platform rejects is the real work, and it is the part schedules underestimate.
The third is evidential archiving, which is not a backup. A backup restores, an archive proves, and proving requires an integrity chain you cannot add afterwards to invoices already issued.
